The Belgian Chess Championship brings the best players in the country to Borgerhout, but the celebration is not just for them. In the inner courtyard of the College, there is plenty of activity for everyone who loves chess, regardless of level.
Play, watch, learn
Whether you play every week or have not touched a chess piece in years, the side events are open to everyone. You can play an informal game against other chess enthusiasts, join a ladder tournament, watch a simultaneous exhibition, or take a short chess lesson. There is no fixed schedule: come when you like and play as much or as little as you want.
Free admission
Participation in the side events is completely free. No registration needed, just show up.
Curious about the main event?
Alongside the side events, you can also take a look in the main playing hall, where Belgium’s best chess players compete for the national title. More information about the tournament itself can be found on the tournament page.
